The 5 Big Questions

The City of Mandurah has teamed up with the ‘Places for Me’ website to give you the opportunity to leave your ideas for Mandurah’s future. We’d like you to help us tackle ‘The 5 Big Questions’:

Connecting – How do you choose to get around?
Living – What do you like most about the place you live?
Working – What do you like most about working in Mandurah?
Fun – What are our best attractions and places?
The Future – What suggestions can you make for our future?

Here’s how to use the www.placesforme.info website:

STEP 1.
Click on a ‘Place’ from the Mandurah tab above, or from the list below.

STEP 2.
‘Rate the Place’: This is a survey for your chosen place and takes less than 5 minutes.

STEP 3.
‘The 5 Big Questions’: Once you ‘Rate the Place’ and hit the submit button, you can then leave your answers to ‘The 5 Big Questions’.

STEP 4.
‘Add My Idea’: Do you have a specific idea about your place? After you’ve left your answers to ‘The 5 Big Questions’, you can then hit ‘Add My Idea’. This will let you move and drop a pin onto a particular location in your place. You can then upload a picture of a great place you’ve been, a photo you’ve taken of something that you like or dislike, or a sketch of an idea you’ve had for that particular location. It could be your idea for a bus stop design or a street bench, or a photo of a cafe you think would be great in that spot.

STEP 5.
Browse through ‘Place Ideas’ left by others and join the discussion!

Thanks for being part of Mandurah’s future!

Kim L's idea for Mandurah City Centreposted 18th November 2009, 2:10pm

nt colours along the streets with clear wayfinding to key areas, more entertainment, perhaps a big led screen as in Northbridge

Michael S's idea for Silver Sandsposted 13th November 2009, 9:04am

I dont know the area too well, but with reference to Emily N's idea (http://www.placesforme.info/discussion/?idea=139) sould there be a shuttle bus service introduced up and down Mandurah Terrace and Fremantle Road that drops people off on the main street?

The bus could be electric / alternative energy powered and advertised as such. Advertising could also be applied to the bus exterior for revenue.

Emily N's idea for Lakelandsposted 5th October 2009, 6:30pm

I would like to see a high street with coffee shops and restaurants so the surrounding communities of lakelands, singleton, madora bay, silver sands and meadow springs can have somewhere to meet without relying on cars for transport...

Something similar to Ardross Street in Applecross or Beaufort Street Mt Lawley with alfresco dining, green grocers and the like.

Water Park for family enjoyment

Buskers on the foreshore on weekends. (like near the fremantle markets on weekends)

would add vibrancy and a bit of a cultural experience to the area.

this would also allow, local musicians/performers to showcase their work in a local setting.

i would love a backpackers to be developed in Mandurah, there is not much affordable accommodation for travellers to stay in, i know that many backpackers miss out on Mandurah, and go to Rockingham, which is a shame, because Mandurah is so unique, and we are missing out on the diversity that it would bring to the area.

I would like to see an ice rink built in Mandurah. there are only 2 ice rinks in WA, one in Cockburn and one in Mirabooka. I think it would bring something different to the area, and would also be a positive physical and social activity that young people would engage in. I know of a few state ice hockey players and figure skaters who live in the rockingham/mandurah area, who would appreciate something closer.

All of WA needs more cycle friendly roadways / paths. Perth is in the most need but the same applies to Mandurah too.

Michael S's idea for Boardwalk and Cultural Precinctposted 13th August 2009, 10:12am

Great idea from Michael W:
We could also consider the use of Mandurah Terrace as a car-free street on Sundays, giving all the businesses along the strip and a barrier free interface to the foreshore. This concept is used in Bogota, Colombia, and is also becoming popular in New York City and Melbourne.

Michael S's idea for Greenfieldsposted 11th August 2009, 1:11pm

Market Garden with posters advertising: "Produce grown here by the Greenfields community is sold at the Boardwalk Sunday markets"

Good exposure in this location

Create a recreation and nature reserve with bike trail that can be seen from the bypass and Old Coast Road.
